We had potluck breakfast at work today. I feel that it screwed up my whole eating day. Receptions, restaurants, potlucks makes it harder to count calories!!!
B= Kashi and milk (180)
Second breakfast= 3 pieces of melondew (60 ), 1 piece of cantelope(30), 1 cracker (10), 3 tbsp of St-Andrée cheese (200 - i`m putting that number as a guesstimate - could be more or less), 1 tbsp of pork paté ( I think it's also called creton) (50), 3 pieces of baguette (50), 10 grapes (30)
S= Banana (105) and more cheese (150) and crackers (30) and grapes (30)
D= Sheppards pie (275) ketchup (30) and milk (100)
total : 1330
St-Andre cheese is really like. It's like a creamy brie.
I`m still not eating enough fish!!!! Ricky can't remember anything I tell him. He needs more fish to help his memory! Friday should be fish day. If I put it on the calendar he will cook it.
Regular consumption of fish can reduce the risk of various diseases and disorders. Selected research findings indicate the following:
Asthma - children who eat fish may be less likely to develop asthma.
Brain and eyes - fish rich in omega 3 fatty acids can contribute to the health of brain tissue and the retina (the light sensitive tissue lining the inner surface of the eye). Cancer - the omega 3 fatty acids in fish may reduce the risk of many types of cancers by 30 to 50 per cent, especially of the oral cavity, oesophagus, colon, breast, ovary and prostate.
Cardiovascular disease - eating fish every week reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke by reducing blood clots and inflammation, improving blood vessel elasticity, lowering blood pressure, lowering blood fats and boosting 'good' cholesterol
Dementia - elderly people who eat fish or seafood at least once a week may have a lower risk of developing dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.
Depression - people who regularly eat fish have a lower incidence of depression (depression is linked to low levels of omega 3 fatty acids in the brain).
Diabetes - fish may help people with diabetes manage their blood sugar levels.
Eyesight - breastfed babies of mothers who eat fish have better eyesight, perhaps due to the omega 3 fatty acids transmitted in breast milk.
Inflammatory conditions - regular fish consumption may relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and autoimmune disease.
Prematurity - eating fish during pregnancy may help reduce the risk of delivering a premature baby.
I went to Sam`s last night and weighted myself. I seem to have lost 8 pounds since August. Very well. I asked Sam the accuracy of the scale and she said it was pretty good...then she said she lost 4 pounds in one week. I might try to get a second opinion on another scale...
Friday fish day is a good idea. Three years ago I made it my New Year's Resolution to eat fish once a week, and by some miracle I've mostly stuck to it. I just make sure I buy fish when I go grocery shopping and then I have no choice but to eat it :)
ReplyDeleteMy friends started using http://www.livestrong.com/myplate/ for calorie counting. I've tried it too, seems to work pretty good.
Thank you for the site Marcelle.
ReplyDeleteYes, if I buy fish we will eat it but the problem is that I go shopping on the weekend and it would not be good on Friday. Maybe Sunday should be fish night as we could have fresh fish instead of frozen fish.
Good idea. My fish night is usually the day of or after grocery night. Otherwise it does get gross tasting/smelling.
